Itinerary

The major highlight of the 3-Day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking  Safari is gorilla trekking at Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

Day 1: Pick up in Kigali city, and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

A Bamboo Ecotours driver/guide will pick you up in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park. If time allows and you are interested, visit the Kigali Genocide Museum before driving to Musanze/Ruhengeri. After the museum visit, we will then drive to Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. The drive to Volcanoes National Park will go through northern Rwanda’s landscape via Musanze, formally Ruhengeri. Check-in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking at Volcanoes National Park. Optional activity in the afternoon to visit the Iby’wacu Cultural Village

You will head to the Volcanoes National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The national park guide will conduct the presentation covering what to expect during the gorilla trek. The national park guide will assign the gorilla trekking group during the pre-trekking briefing. Other visitors will likely join you. The gorilla trek can take from a few to many hours,  depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest.

In the afternoon, you have an option to learn about the local culture and history by visiting the Ibyiwacu Cultural Village in Kinigi centre, right at the national park boundary.

Day 3: Transfer to Kigali city and onwards to the airport

Today will be the last day of the 5-day gorilla trek. You will start the day with an early morning breakfast at the lodge and right after transfer to Kigali International Airport for the onward journey to your next destination.

Optional activity: If your flight out of Kigali is scheduled later the day, plan on trekking the golden monkeys in the morning of day three before driving to Kigali.
