Today is the main event, our Uganda gorilla trek! You will embark on a full-day adventure to track the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Forest National Park. This national park is home to roughly half the world’s mountain gorillas population, making it THE destination for tracking. The trek will begin with a short briefing on gorilla trekking rules to ensure guests’ safety and the protection of these animals in their natural habitat. You will then start the trek into the impenetrable forest to encounter the gentle giants of Bwindi National Park.​ This is a true adventure, and part of the excitement is finding the gorillas. Follow the guides as they make paths through the thick vegetation until the special moment that you encounter these majestic creatures. It is a truly unique experience and will surely be one of the standout moments of your trip. After the gorilla trek, head back downhill and depart Bwindi National Park for Kabale town or Lake Bunyonyi.

To prepare for the one-day gorilla trek from Lake Bunyonyi, clients are expected to stay in Kabale town or around Lake Bunyonyi. There are reasonably priced accommodations around Lake Bunyonyi, including Bunyonyi Overland Resort, Paradise Ecohub, and Byona Amagara Island Retreat.

In the morning of the gorilla trek, you will depart Lake Bunyonyi for Bwindi National Park at 5:00 am and drive to Bwindi National Park (eastern gate of Ruhija). Ruhija is the preferred trekking gate when driving from Lake Bunyonyi. It takes about 2hrs to drive from Lake Bunyonyi to Ruhija (~60kms), Bwindi National Park, which is why we recommend leaving Lake Bunyonyi at 5:00 AM. The amount you pay doesn’t cover accommodation and meals, so please make sure to get a packed lunch from the hotel.
