Itinerary
With the 10-Day Rwanda Gorillas, Chimps, and Wildlife Safari, you will trek the gorillas in Volcanoes National Park, visit chimpanzees in the Nyungwe forest, and explore various cultural sites such as the Rwanda Enthnographinc museum in Butare/Huye and Ibyiwacu Cultural Village in addition to wildlife game viewing in Akagera National Park. s.

Day 1: Pickup at Kigali hotel, Kigali city tour (Genocide Museum, Kimironko Market, and Ivuka Arts Centre). Transfer to Volcanoes NP for overnight.
Our representative will pick you up in Kigali and transfer to Volcanoes National Park. If time allows and you are interested, visit the Kigali Genocide Museum before driving to Musanze/Ruhengeri. Other sites to visit in Kigali include Presidential Museum, Kimironko Market, and Ivuka Arts Centre. After the museum visit, we will then drive to Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. The drive to Volcanoes National Park will go through the landscape of northern Rwanda via Musanze, formally Ruhengeri. Check-in at the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking day in Volcanoes National Park. Ibyiwacu Cultural Village tour in the afternoon (optional)
You will head to the Volcanoes National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The national park guide will conduct the presentation covering the basics of what to expect during the gorilla trek. The national park guide will assign the gorilla trekking group during the pre-trekking briefing. Other visitors will likely join you. The gorilla trek can take from a few to many hours, depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest.
In the afternoon, you have an option to learn about the local culture and history by visiting the Ibyiwacu Cultural Village in Kinigi centre, right at the national park boundary.
Day 3: Golden Monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park or Dian Fossey hike. Transfer to Lake Kivu/Gisenyi
You will start the day by visiting Volcanoes National Park to trek the golden monkeys. Alternatively, visit the Dian Fossey Karisoke Research Centre. After the golden monkey trek, we will drive to Lake Kivu. Check-in at the hotel and enjoy an evening full of relaxation at Lake Kivu.
Day 4: Spending the day exploring Lake Kivu–fishing experience, canoeing, and walking safaris
This is the day to explore Lake Kivu, including the fishing experience, canoeing, and walking safaris. Overnight at Lake Kivu.
Day 5: Transfer from Lake Kivu/Gisenyi to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Transfer to Nyungwe forest via Lake Kivu /Kibuye area. The drive from Gisenyi to Nyungwe Forest National Park is estimated to take about 5hrs. Overnight at Nyungwe Forest.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking in the Nyungwe forest (morning). Canopy walk in the afternoon

Day 7: Drive from Nyungwe back to Kigali. Stopover at the Rwanda Enthnographinc museum in Butare/Huye

Day 8: Transfer to Akagera National Park. Game drives and boat cruise to spot hippos, crocodiles, and other wildlife

Day 9: Additional game drives at Akagera NP. Overnight at Akagera
