The Mabungo Village Cultural Tour is an optional activity to do after gorilla trekking at Bwindi National Park. The Mabungo Community tour takes 2-3hrs and starts from Kisoro town, southwestern Uganda. You will get a chance to interact with local people, learn about local traditions, and enjoy traditional music. The proceeds from the village tour go directly to the local community.
Cost: USD 30 person. The price is inclusive of transport from downtown Kisoro to the village. No meals included.

BACKGROUND TO MABUNGO CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
Most villages in Uganda still hold traditional ways of life, and many always follow the way their ancestors lived. Mabungo cultural tour is not sightseeing, but the participatory experience of traditional Bafumbira life in the village.
The village tour introduces you to the local culture by taking you to the beating heart of the community and invite you to participate in daily life activities, from preparing local food to celebrations with traditional folklore.
In fact, to enjoy this village to the fullest, spend a day with locals who introduce you to the way they live. Learn how the village grows crops and how children get an education, weaving baskets, their traditional dances and culture, performances, and also how food is harvested, prepared, cooked, and served in the authentic African way. The smoke you will see in the eyes while participating in cooking is what makes the tour so fascinating. During the village tour, visitors should always keep in mind that by visiting, they are giving back to the community.
LOCATION
Mabungo is a small village situated in Kisoro district among green rolling hills about 30minites drive from Kiroro town; 1 hour from Mgahinga gorilla national park; and 2 hours from Bwindi impenetrable national park a natural habitat to the world’s remaining endangered mountain gorillas. It is easy for the tourist to track gorillas and wrap up the trip with a walk in the village of Mabungo.
The Mabungo cultural experience lasts between 2-3hours. The time you spend doing the activity depends on your expectations.
