Accommodation at Mutanda Eco Community Centre
Mutanda Eco Community Centre provides budget accommodation and camping grounds at Lake Mutanda. The camp, which is 100% owned by local communities, is located at Lake Mutanda’s shores. Lake Mutanda, considered to be one of the most stunning inland water bodies, is an ideal place to visit after trekking the mountain gorillas in Mgahinga and Bwindi impenetrable national parks. Activities to do at Lake Mutanda include canoe trekking, community walks, birding, and snake safaris.
Accommodation at Mutanda Eco Community Centre is provided in dormitories, bandas (self-contained and non-self-contained), and has ample camping grounds for those who love camping. Mutanda Campsite is approximately 530kms south of Kampala, Uganda’s capital site. The distance between the Camp and the nearby Kisoro town is 6kms. The main means of transport from Kisoro to Lake Mutanda is by private car hire. Visitors can also opt to walk from Kisoro town to the center. The walk takes about an hour with breathtaking views of the Virunga volcanoes.
It is possible to stay overnight at Mutanda Eco Community Centre and trek the gorillas at both Mgahinga and Bwindi forest national parks. One way drive from Mutanda Camp to Bwindi may take up to 2hrs depending on the nature of the roads that connect both sites.
