Since most Bamboo Ecotours trips start in Kigali, Rwanda, it is essential to check your eligibility for a tourist visa to Rwanda and Uganda before the start of your safari.

In case the country where you are a citizen is not visa-exempt in Rwanda, you will need a visa to enter Rwanda. Similarly, you will need a visa to enter Uganda if your country is not visa-exempt.

For guests who require a visa to both Rwanda and Uganda, we recommend applying for the “East Africa Tourist Visa.” The East Africa Tourist Visa allows multiple entries to both Uganda and Rwanda. The East Africa Tourist Visa grants you access to Kenya as well. The East Africa Tourist Visa costs USD 100 per traveler. Please note that Tanzania is not a signatory to the East Africa tourist visa treaty.

You can apply for both Rwanda and Uganda tourist visas online. Rwanda also allows citizens of certain countries to apply for a visa on arrival in Rwanda. To check your country’s eligibility to apply for a visa on arrival in Uganda, check this document.
