Gorilla Trekking with Sagitwe Caldera Hike in Kisoro District

The Sagitwe volcanic caldera is found in the Kisoro district in southwestern Uganda. Kisoro is the only district with two national parks with mountain gorillas in Uganda: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park & Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. There are two international border crossings in Kisoro: the Cyanika Border Crossing & Bunagana Border Crossing.

The Sagitwe caldera is also a short drive distance from the inlet river called Chuho, which flows at a small distance & disappears into the ground. The Sagitwe Caldera is located 10 km and 39 km from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, respectively. The Sagitwe Caldera Hike is recommended to do before/after gorilla trekking or golden monkey trekking in Mgahinga National Park. The Sagitwe Caldera Hike can easily be combined with the Coffee Making Experience, Mabungo Cultural Tour, Batwa Cultural Tour, and Canoeing at Lake Mutanda at the freshwater of Lake Mutanda.
