The major activity for the one day gorilla trek from Kisoro town and Lake Mutanda gorilla trekking safari to Bwindi National Park starts from Kisoro town in southwestern Uganda. Gorilla trekking can be done at the Rushaga and Nkuringo gates of Bwindi National Park. It is also possible to trek the Nyakagezi gorilla family in the nearby Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

Itinerary for one day gorilla trek in Uganda

A Bamboo Ecotours representative will meet you at the hotel in Kisoro town at 6:00 am and drive northwards to Bwindi National Park. Alternatively, book your accommodation at Lake Mutanda, and a Bamboo Ecotours staff will pick you up from Lake Mutanda and transfer to Bwindi National Park.

The drive from Kisoro town or Lake Mutanda to Bwindi National Park is approximately 2hrs. Upon arrival at Bwindi National Park, you will get a short briefing from the park rangers on what to expect during the gorilla trek. You will then start the tour and enter the impenetrable forest to encounter the mountain gorillas. You will spend one hour with the gorillas and afterward head to the trailhead. You will immediately drive back from the trailhead to Kisoro town. There is also an option to join the one day gorilla from Lake Bunyonyi.
